Wikipedia states,

"Prototype-based programming is a style of object-oriented programming in which classes are not present, and behavior reuse (known as inheritance in class-based languages) is performed via a process of cloning existing objects that serve as prototypes. This model can also be known as class-less, prototype-oriented or instance-based programming."

Over the past few years I've mostly focussed on OOP in C++, as we know that's definitely class-based so I'm more used to its implementation of inheritance. The more I look at JavaScript though (btw, which really has little to nothing to do with JAVA - it's a bloody misnomer of the name!) the more I'm liking what I see.

MooTools is a great framework as it places a much larger emphasis on 'great coding' and actually having an appreciation for hardcore JavaScript-coding skills rather than JQuery - the much more accessible framework for "Dummies"...er, I mean, web developers without any real coding skills. I guess I'm being overly harsh there; in reality JQuery places a much larger focus on making DOM manipulation 'simpler', unlike the focus of MooTools.

You should give this a read if you're interested on the topic: <a href="http://www.jqueryvsmootools.com" target="_blank">http://www.jqueryvsmootools.com</a>

Going back to the whole Nerd + Superpowers bit; our prototypal example seems more applicable to the creation of Spiderman; remember that Superman is after all Kandorian and simply 'plays' the nerdy look as a reporter at the DailyPlanet. We also have the Bruce Banner to Hulk transition, that's usable here. Oh, don't forget Wolverine and his creation. Sure, most of the X-Men have mutant abilities, but not all of them as 'Superpowers' akin to Supermans awesome arsenal of skills. Did I forget the Fantastic Four? Hmm....

It's sad how much g33k stuff I know :P

That sounds great William and the RX78 is one of my favourites (I think it tends to be so for any Gundam fan). It's rugged design is utterly classic. I know what you mean by 'robot warrior'.

Do share some photos when you complete your PG; if you like I'll even host them on my blog :)

I agree that the stock colors are too bright ( I enjoyed how you termed them 'happy' ). I am working on a PG RX78-2 (which also happens to be the 30yr anniversary model and almost feel guilty using custom colors (hoping to go with a 'Desert Combat Color Combo' which I will have to personally design.
Good job on your Strike. I enjoy the design of the Strike from the anime aspect. From the 'robot warrior' aspect I have stayed withing the RX series although I do have a Titanium version of Strike.
Good job!

Hey Richard :)

You're quite right. I did mention this above, "My idea requires the use of a turbocharger, as the diesel engine in HEVs tends to solely function as a means for driving the electric traction motors..."; however, what I was trying to mention was the possibility of further using the exhaust gasses to drive a secondary generator.

Of course, the exhaust gasses may not have sufficient energy to drive the secondary generator once they have passed through the initial turbine stage. Your point about the work done by the turbo decreasing engine power though is something I hadn't considered though.

nice idea but the work done by the turbo will decreace the power of the engine, therefore increase fuel consumed, a much easier way of increasing fuel economy is to have the turbo diesel generator running solely on a generator like a train, then electric motors to power the wheels. also train engines can be turbocharged, this is a small ship turbo <a href="http://www.maritime.com.pl/industry/strony/gfx/abbturbo1.gif" target="_blank">http://www.maritime.com.pl/industry/strony/gfx/ab...</a> ment for a 25Mw engine. the main reason turbos are used is when you are at a constant speed ie not pressing the gas pedal the turbo takes next to no power from the engine, the turbo only uses power when it is spooling up, where as a supercharger has a constant power loss related to the engine rpm, a supercharger for a jag can use 50hp at max rpm to power it.
